Following a short illness, from which he is now fully recovered, Sid Patten has decided to leave Scottish Building to pursue a fresh challenge.

A spokesperson for Scottish Building said: “Sid Patten was appointed as Chief Executive almost ten years ago. During his time in post he has succeeded in delivering a vibrant and professional organisation, with a wide range of services for our members, including extensive lobbying within both Scotland and the UK.

“Scottish Building has an enviable profile and strong financial and membership base. We would like to thank Sid for his whole hearted endeavours on behalf of Scottish Building over the past 10 years and wish him well for the future”.

Sid Patten said: “It has been a privilege to serve as Chief Executive of Scottish Building over the past 10 years and to work with the members of the Board, Operational Committees and Member Associations. There have been many significant achievements during this period for both Scottish Building and its’ related organisations. It has been a very satisfying and rewarding role. I wish Scottish Building, its’ Office Bearers and Members continued success”.

Douglas Fergus was appointed General Manager of Scottish Building in October and has, along with the strong staff, been keeping business running as normal. Douglas has immense experience in the construction industry and was previously Scottish manager of CITB-Construction Skills.
